Posted by Leon van Perlo on 2024-12-21 16:56 Hi Eric, Have you bought this product as "new" or used? If it was sold as new, cables should not be damaged. And what sensor are you using? DTS, DTZ or DTx? Best regards, Leon
Posted by eric.godezenne on 2024-12-21 18:15 Good evening Leon, I bought this product second-hand. I don't know how to identify the sensor. I can send you pictures. Thanks for your help Leon
Posted by Leon van Perlo on 2024-12-21 23:24 Hi Eric, The type of sensor determines for which types of turntable the set can be used. So if you bough something without knowing which sensor it includes ... ? Does it include a sensor at all? Perhaps you'd best read the DinSys DTCv3 Manual. This does not describe the DTCv2, but gives you an idea about the possibilities. The DTCv2 has been produced by PiCommIT for some period. As far as I know there is no manual. In the File Galleries you find some .jpg's showing how to connect them. When VPEB took over the DinaSys product range we dropped the DTCv2. Currently we have an upgrade program if you want to replace your DTCv1 or DTCv2 by the current DTCv3. But first I think it would be key to know what you want to do with the set and determine what you have. Best regards, Leon
Posted by eric.godezenne on 2024-12-22 09:14 Hello Leon, In fact I bought this set because it was sold fixed on the turntable. So for me it worked. But there were no instructions. Except that during disassembly a connector had its wires cut! I can send you photos. But not with the forum because we are limited of size !
Posted by Leon van Perlo on 2024-12-22 09:56 Hi Eric, If it was sold together with the turntable, the combination will probably be ok. If the wires cut are the wires from turntable to DTC controller, the wiring diagram is in one of the pictures to which I sent you the link above. You can upload photo's and other documents here, but size is limited to around 200k. That allows a quite reasonable quality, but you might need to resize and compress a bit before you upload. Best regards, Leon
Posted by Leon van Perlo on 2024-12-23 23:02 Hi Eric, I can be wrong, but from the black block behind the DTC in the picture I suspect this is a turntable once manufactured by DCC TrainAutomation. It could well be that it is designed to operate with a DTx sensor. The sensor is not connected. It shall be connected at the box header next to P102. The power connector (P301/P302) is ripped off, desoldered or was never installed. Without power it won't work. Somewhere before 2018 PiCommIT sold the DTCv1 with sensors DTS and DTZ. At some point in time they replaced the DTCv1 by the DTCv2. The main reason was the DTCv2 is easier to manufacture. For the DTCv2 they designed the DTx solution. I was told this was intended to be sold as project only, including commissioning. Documentation is rather poor. Later, PiCommIT went back to the DTCv1 production, but the DTx solution was never ported to the DTCv1. When VPEB took over the DinaSys product range in 2020, we decided to keep the DTCv1 for the time being and drop the DTCv2. We developed a new version DTCv3 which supports all sensors DTS, DTZ, DTx, has universal firmware and universal configuration software. When DTCv3 was launched we dropped the DTCv1 too, since the DTCv3 is really a lot better and easier. Today some customers who have the DTCv1 and DTCv2 working even trade it in for the DTCv3. While the DTCv2 + DTx was intended to be sold as "project only", the DTCv3 + DTx is a lot easier to commission. There is hardly any documentation on the DTCv2 and the new configuration software can NOT be used to configure the DTCv2/DTx setup, because we completely redesigned the adjustment process. So if you can get it all connected, you'll need the old DTxConfig for DTCv2, which is in the FIle Galleries To be clear: We will not issue any new documentation for the DTCv2 since we consider it an outdated product. If this set was sold to you as "functioning", I suggest you contact the seller about this and ask how to do it. Otherwise, if the turntable itself is OK and you have the sensor, I advise you to replace the DTCv2 controller by the DTCv3. The sensor can be re-used, if it is OK by itself, perhaps you need a new cable for it. Information about the DTCv3, the firmware it's software and the different sensors can be found in the DTCv3 Manual Best regards, Leon
